According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are both interested in signing AFC Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.
The Reds spent almost £150 million on Alexis MacAllister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch during the summer transfer window as part of a midfield rebuild.
Liverpool was heavily connected with numerous prospective acquisitions but ultimately decided against strengthening in any other positions.
As the summer transfer window came to a conclusion, there was concern that Mohamed Salah would leave Liverpool and play in the Saudi Pro League. This deal ultimately fell through (for the time being), but they will have to spend a lot of money to find a decent winger to replace him.
Over the coming year, the Premier League’s juggernauts will also need to bolster their center-back unit because 32-year-old Virgil van Dijk is starting to deteriorate.
In the summer, Liverpool was said to be interested in Perr Schuurs and Goncalo Inacio, but Kelly of Bournemouth has since emerged as a prospective target.
The 24-year-old is in the final year of his contract, and on deadline day, it was reported that Tottenham had a £20 million offer for him rejected.
Liverpool is reportedly “racing to sign” Kelly, according to Football Insider, and Bournemouth “could be forced to cash in” during the forthcoming January transfer window. Report provides details.

The 24-year-old’s contract is slated to expire in June 2024, and several clubs, lead by Liverpool, are on high alert because of this. As a result, he can start talking to international teams about pre-contract offers on January 1st.

Kelly received praise for his “incredible” performance after Bournemouth’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool earlier this year from former Cherries head coach Gary O’Neil.
After the game, O’Neil remarked, “I thought Lloyd was incredible.” “I believe he suffered an ankle injury for 12 weeks, then a calf issue for 6 weeks.
“I didn’t have a lot of time in between, and today, after little training, I returned to play left back against one of the finest wingers in the world.
“I believed he displayed all of his ability to be a premier defender. Against a top attacker, it was a very, very impressive performance.
