Will Arteta listen to the fans and buy Arsenal a new striker in January?
When we regained our competitive edge last season, our Arsenal team appeared to be stronger and better. However, there is reason to believe that in order to help us win the Premier League, our head coach, Mikel Arteta, would make an effort to improve his team during the January transfer window.
After eight games, we have not lost, and with 20 points, we are tied for second place in the league with Tottenham Hotspurs, despite the fact that they have scored more goals.
Over the summer, we made a number of big acquisitions. Declan Rice, our new midfielder, who we acquired for a club-record £105 million, has changed the way we play by bringing imagination and composure to our midfield.
In addition, we paid £60.2 million to Chelsea to acquire Kai Havertz. Although he hasn’t yet shone, he has given signs that he will.
Jurrien Timber also joined us from Ajax for £34 million, although he only got to play for a short while before becoming hurt permanently. Additionally, we borrowed David Raya, and what a revolution he has been. Some people might make fun of me for stating this, but the Spaniard has deftly positioned himself as our starting goalkeeper, pushing a talented goalkeeper like Ramsdale to the sidelines.
To tackle anyone, we are as ready as we possibly can be. There is consensus, however, that our team still has a few minor shortcomings that ought to be fixed as soon as the transfer market opens. Many analysts and pundits have noted that we will need to sharpen our hitting.
It’s not that Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah aren’t good, but there’s a case to be made that they waste a lot of chances, lending credence to claims that we don’t have a killer No. 9 who can capitalize on the numerous chances we create in front of goal.
Arteta may aim to bring in a new striker in January to provide more goals and competition for Jesus and Nketiah; pundits such as Gary Neville and Ian Wright and many others have stated that this is the only way to give us a competitive advantage in the title fight.
There is no doubt that Arteta will use the January transfer window to bring additional firepower and creativity to his squad. We’ve shown a lot of tenacity and consistency this season, but we’ll need more depth and talent to keep our title challenge going and compete in the Champions League.
