Jesse Lingard, a former Manchester United forward who has been practicing at Rush Green, appears to be out of time for West Ham to sign him.
The deadline for free agency registration in the Premier League is 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, according to Six Foot Two (11 September).

This presents a strong probability that they will act quickly and make a statement within the next 24 to 48 hours.
It won’t matter much if Lingard isn’t signed since he isn’t as important to West Ham as he was two summers ago.
However, David Moyes is keeping an eye on him because he has been training at Rush Green and even participated in a friendly game.
Given that the Hammers didn’t add a new striker this summer, he can be a very strong backup option.
Many had anticipated that
Given the Man City game is only five days away, there is a strong possibility that Coufal will play no part against the English and European champions.
That is bad news for Moyes, who has started the 31-year-old in all four of United matches this season. In fact, he is one of four outfield players to have played every minute for the Irons [FBref].
A failure to bring in any cover leaves Moyes with Ben Johnson and Thilo Kehrer as the natural replacements for Coufal should he indeed be ruled out for the City game and possibly beyond.
West Ham’s strong start to the season has been built on a fairly settled XI, but it may well be that Moyes has to have a rethink when Premier League action resumes next weekend.

Because of this, the Hammers are extremely thin on both lines of their defense and are dependent on Emerson Palmieri and Vladimir Coufal to stay healthy.
Unfortunately for Moyes, Coufal now seems to be a serious injury concern for Manchester City’s visit the following weekend after suffering an injury while on international duty with the Czech Republic.
Coufal played the full 90 minutes for the Czech Republic during last Thursday’s (1 September) 1–1 draw with Albania, but manager Jaroslav Silhavy afterwards announced the defender wouldn’t take part in the friendly match against Hungary this coming Sunday (10 September).
That was proven correct as Coufal was left off the roster for the 1-1 tie at Puskas Arena.
The West Ham player is reportedly “slightly injured” by the Czech Republic FA, whatever that means.
