The Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz has addressed the whispers and jests that suggest he is secretly dating Emma Raducanu, a prominent player in the British tennis scene.
Alcaraz won the Wimbledon championship for the second year in a succession and his fourth Grand Slam victory overall on Sunday after thrashing Novak Djokovic in straight sets.
It follows Alcaraz’s fervent defense of Raducanu in the wake of her contentious decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles match against Andy Murray.
While Raducanu has been “following” Alcaraz’s matches to “emulate” some of his shots, she also disclosed earlier in the competition that she is a huge fan of Alcaraz.
The two athletes are the same age, 21. Raducanu is thought to be unmarried following her breakup with Carlo Agostinelli this summer.
Alcaraz, who is also unmarried, declared this summer that she is seeking a partner. Because tennis players travel frequently, it can be challenging to meet the proper person.
During his news conference on Sunday following his victory over Djokovic in the Wimbledon 2024 final, the Spaniard was questioned about Raducanu.
A reporter inquired: “There have been jokes on social media suggesting that Carlos is performing at this level [of skill] because Emma Raducanu is present in the stands.” Was her purpose for visiting you specifically?
When asked about Raducanu, Alcaraz could not contain his enormous smile. However, he later downplayed the journalist’s remark, stating that he had no idea why she was there and that he would have to speak with her personally to find out.
“I’m not sure if she came to see me specifically,” Alcaraz remarked. “I’m not sure.” I believe a sizable crowd has gathered to watch the championship.
