Daniel Farke’s Whites have so much business to do in the final two weeks of the transfer window, but what they do might hinge on who is actually available.

Three of Leeds’ four signings thus far have come from Premier League clubs who deemed these players surplus to requirements, and with the top-flight season now underway, more could be on the market.

Potentially, the club could once again tap into the loan market as they did to bring in Spurs defender Joe Rodon, this time focusing on adding strength to the midfield.

Here, we look at two players that Leeds need to be looking at from the Premier League to bolster their squad…

Lewis O’Brien to Nottingham Forest seemed like a very logical signing back in the summer of 2022, until he was joined by a further six (or so) midfielders arriving at the City Ground.

O’Brien was surplus to requirements before he’d even managed to get his feet under the table at Forest, and he’s been a player of interest to Leeds stretching back to the 2021 summer window.

Darren Witcoop reported that the midfielder could be free to leave the Reds this summer and Leeds need to be at the front of the queue for his signature.

He provides the protection and pressing energy Leeds need in defensive midfield, while also showing solid progression of the ball too.

O’Brien would surely be receptive of the move too, given the spells he has had at other clubs in West Yorkshire, as well as getting a certain glowing recommendation from DC United teammate Mateusz Klich.

Brighton’s investment as they head into Europe this season means that their overall squad is much stronger.

Steven Alzate, meanwhile, remains on the fringes and unlikely to get much playing time under Roberto De Zerbi, and will surely be itching to leave.

The Colombian international is in the final 12 months of his contract at the AMEX, so a deal wouldn’t be that difficult to come about, especially off the back of being loaned out to Belgium last term.

Like O’Brien, Alzate would bring solid progression to Leeds on the ball through his ability to carry the ball and beat a man, something we need next to Ethan Ampadu.
