One of the most adored residents in Boston is now Derrick White. And he enjoyed Friday’s championship parade, even venturing into the city’s harbour district after the rolling procession, having assisted the Celtics in securing Banner 18.

Before then, the city showered them both with affection as he travelled through Boston on a duck boat with his father, Richard White, a native of Massachusetts, by his side. It was the perfect inauguration for a guy whose extraordinary journey has made him the finest role player in the NBA.

Before the parade, White, who had appeared in another Sam Adams commercial earlier in the season, taped another one in which he bought a duck boat, following in the footsteps of former Red Sox pitcher Jake Peavy

With a strong championship run for his first ring, White—who may replace Kawhi Leonard for Team USA at the Olympics in Paris—averaged 16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.2 blocks, and shot 40 percent from three point range.

It’s also likely that he will sign a contract extension with the Celtics this summer, keeping a key player on staff as the team looks to build a dynasty on this victory.
