Wolves boss Gary O’Neil responds to Unai Emery after Aston Villa rival refuses handshake

Gary O’Neil, the manager of Wolves, insisted that Unai Emery’s decision to decline a handshake at halftime was “a lot of nothing” as he downplayed the situation during their draw with Aston Villa.

Emery immediately made his way to the tunnel after his Villa team failed to capitalize on their recent success to secure a place in the top four. At Molineux, Hwang Hee-Chan had given the home team the lead after 53 minutes, but Villa’s Pau Torres responded just two minutes later, and the clubs ultimately agreed to a draw.

Mario Lemina was given his marching orders for receiving a second booking four minutes into stoppage time, although Wolves had already been down to 10 men by that point. Villa had a good chance to win.

O’Neil then remonstrated with the fourth official at the final whistle, prompting Emery to make his way back to the dressing room. And the Wolves boss was quick to dismiss there was any rift between them.
