5 players who rejected Arsenal transfer as

During his illustrious stint at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger made a number of famous acquisitions, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic is unquestionably one who escaped.

The former PSG and Manchester United striker, who won an incredible 34 titles throughout his career, is largely regarded as one of the finest forwards of his period. And while the Swedish player eventually had the chance to dominate the Premier League with United back in 2016, the moment could have—and probably ought to—have arrived much sooner.

Ibrahimovic stated Wenger was interested in recruiting him for Arsenal and the two had even met in person to discuss a possible transfer during an interview with Piers Morgan. Any possibility of an agreement was thwarted by the 42-year-old’s reluctance to go through with a trial.

Given that Wenger was at the helm for 22 years, Ibrahimovic wasn’t the only superstar the Frenchman missed out on. Here, Mirror Football recaps five other big names who decided against a move to the Gunners.
