Unapologetic, Shaquille O’Neal refers to the Boston Celtics’ victory as the “most boring finals ever” in NBA history.

Shaquille O’Neal recently discussed his predictions for the Boston Celtics vs. Dallas Mavericks NBA Finals in 2023. Shaq referred to the series as the most boring finals in finals ever, even though he was present for Games 1 and 2.

Shaq clarified that the series’ dearth of dramatic moments or an engaging plot were the reasons behind his thoughts. He remembered about memorable events from NBA Finals he had witnessed as a child, such Larry Bird’s fading away shots and Magic Johnson’s skyhook. He claimed that these incidents developed a story that improved the fan experience.

Shaquille O’Neal conceded that there were many who would have argued that the series could have been more dramatic if Kyrie Irving had been playing against his old team, the Celtics. He thought it didn’t quite have the same effect as the vintage contests he had grown up watching, though. Shaq concluded by saying that the NBA Finals in 2024 lacked the thrill and drama that typified previous titles. Even if others would disagree, his viewpoint emphasises how crucial a gripping story is to what makes sports interesting and memorable.
