Two star players arrested over rape allegation.
Due to a rape allegation, two Premier League football players have been placed under custody. Playing for the same club, the two 19-year-olds have been freed on bond. “Officers have arrested two men following a report of a rape,” a police official stated.
“A 19-year-old guy was taken into custody on charges of assault and encouraging sexual assault. On suspicion of rape, a second 19-year-old guy was taken into custody.
Since then, both guys have been freed on police bail. The players’ club has refrained from providing a statement regarding the police inquiry. It’s unknown if the aforementioned players are still eligible to be selected or have been suspended. The arrests were initially reported by The Sun newspaper, which also stated that the alleged incident happened on Friday night.
After several high-profile incidents, sexual consent education is now required for all Premier League players. While Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood was detained in January 2022 on suspicion of rape and assault before the case was dismissed in February of last year, former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy was charged with and eventually cleared of many sexual assaults.
