The south Dublin-based Orwell Wheelers have revealed that one of its members, Niall Kieran, passed away over the weekend in a bicycle accident in France. When Niall went off the road and died, he was on a cycling vacation with his father in conjunction with the Tour de France.

After Niall went on a bicycle vacation in the Pyrenees, he was involved in a tragic crash on Sunday, which was reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs. The Kieran family was receiving aid from it.

Niall, who was from Churchtown in south Dublin, was 29 years old. The fatal collision in the Hautes-Pyrenees near Gorges de Luz, at 8.45 am, happened when Niall veered off the road and into a gully, according to local French media.

In a statement, Orwell Wheelers confirmed Niall’s untimely passing and said how saddened the club was to lose such a valuable member.

The statement read, “We have to share the tragic news of clubmate Niall Kieran’s passing in a cycling accident last weekend with deep sorrow.” “In France, Niall was riding a bicycle with his father, Gerry.

“Those who knew Niall would know how excited he was about his vacation with his dad. Weekend rides, competitive riding, and the social side of cycling were all things Niall cherished. He was adored and well-known at the club.

“Everyone who knew Niall in the club will sincerely miss him.” Our deepest sympathies and best wishes are especially extended to Gerry.

“The club sends its sincere condolences to the entire Kieran family during this difficult time.”
