The Volkswagen Footy Assist program is back for 2024, offering a significant opportunity for local AFL clubs across Australia to secure a share of $50,000 in funding. This initiative, which has been running since 2015, continues to support grassroots footy by providing grants that can be used for various needs such as facility upgrades, new equipment, and even subsidizing registration fees for players. With a long-standing commitment to fostering community football, Volkswagen, in partnership with the Sydney Swans, has already contributed over $240,000 to more than 71 AFL clubs across the country.

The Footy Assist program is designed to help community clubs grow and thrive. Football clubs are central to many communities in Australia, serving not just as places for sport but as hubs for connection and local pride. By supporting these clubs, the program helps nurture future AFL talent and keeps the spirit of the game alive for thousands of players, coaches, and volunteers. The grant funding can assist in making important improvements to facilities, provide new training gear, or offer financial assistance to reduce the cost of participation.

For those interested in applying, the process is straightforward but requires clubs to demonstrate how the grant would benefit both their organization and the wider community. Clubs can apply online, and applications are open until December 3, 2024. The grants will be distributed in two categories: two grants of $10,000 and six grants of $5,000. The Sydney Swans and Volkswagen will evaluate applications based on the demonstrated need for financial support and the potential impact of the grant on both the club and the local community.

Eligibility for the Footy Assist program is open to all non-professional, not-for-profit AFL clubs in Australia. Clubs that are awarded grants will have the flexibility to use the funds for a variety of purposes, such as upgrading their facilities, purchasing new equipment like footballs and guernseys, or subsidizing training and registration costs for players. This flexibility ensures that the funding can be used in ways that best suit the unique needs of each club.

The 2024 program is another step in the ongoing effort
