Ange Postecoglou loved the Celtic few silencing the Rangers masses at Ibrox in ‘unbelievable’ derby

The Aussie is heading into a big clash south of the border this weekend.

Ange Postecoglou admits he loved it when his Celtic side got the reduced away end at Ibrox going to the extent they silenced the thousands outnumbering them.

The Tottenham manager is looking forward to his first North London derby of the campaign against Arsenal on Sunday but with that has come questions on previous derby experience, having just left the Glasgow cauldron. Postecoglou was Celtic manager for two years and came up against Rangers on many occasions, and it’s his first campaign that has prompted a flashback.Ange Postecoglou proud of Celtic's resilience in vital derby victory at Ibrox | STV News

Allocations have been cut at Old Firm clashes in recent times and having lost his first 1-0 at Ibrox in August 2021, a return to Govan in April 2022 was more sweet, winning 2-1. And with 700 Celtic supporters cheering his team on, the 58-year-old insists it was a great moment to see the few silence the many. He said: “When we played Rangers, I think it was in my first year we only had 700 Celtic supporters in there and we won.

“That was unbelievable where 700 at the end of the game could silence thousands. But wherever I have been, I have been on the other side of it too where it has not been so good.

“You remember all them, some other results you may tend to forget, particularly if you have been in the game as long as I have. But derbies?

“You always remember them. If you try and forget them, somebody will remind you from either camp.”
