The Baylor Pickleball Club, established just over a year ago by Paul Underwood, is gearing up to compete in the DUPR National Collegiate Tournament later this week. Underwood reflected on the rapid growth of the club, noting, “It has been a whirlwind. We’ve transitioned from being a fledgling group to an official club sport on campus, and now we’re heading to nationals in Dallas.”
Ten dedicated players from Baylor will represent the university as they face off against 500 competitors from 64 colleges and universities. Freshman Laura Soto expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “Most people here probably play every day. We’re committing hours each week. Earning our spot at nationals is incredibly exciting, and I can’t wait to see all the other teams there. It’s going to be surreal.”
