Harry Kane scored four times as Tottenham Hotspur beat Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 on Sunday.
The England captain has been heavily linked with a move away from North London this summer but remains part of Ange Postecoglou’s side and reiterated his ability on Sunday.
Kane continues to be linked with a move to German champions Bayern Munich, but another Spurs player that could leave the club this summer is midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
According to Football Insider, though, the Lilywhites are keen to sign a replacement for the Denmark international before allowing him to leave.
Hojbjerg, 28, joined Spurs from Southampton back in 2020 and has since played an integral role for the club under several different managers.
It is claimed that the midfielder is close to joining Spanish side Atletico Madrid, though, but Spurs are adamant that they must first source a replacement for the Dane.
One player that Spurs considered as a potential replacement was Barcelona’s Franck Kessie, the report claims, but the Ivory Coast international is expected to finalise a move to Saudi Arabian Pro League side Al-Ahli.
The player will command a fee in excess of £25 million despite having less than two years remaining on his current contract.
In total Hojbjerg has made 145 appearances for the London side across all competitions, scoring ten goals and providing 15 assists.
Last term the Danish midfielder played a crucial role under Antonio Conte, Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason, making 44 appearances including 35 in the Premier League.
His time in the capital appears likely to end this summer, which would currently leave Postecoglou with Tanguy Ndombele, Pape Matar Sarr, Oliver Skipp, Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur as options in midfield, although the latter is currently sidelined with a long-term injury.
The Australian is therefore keen to ensure that Spurs sign a new midfielder before allowing Hojbjerg to move to the Spanish capital.
