The Mavericks will immediately pick up where they left off in their long-running search for a trade partner to take on Hardaway, according to league sources. Given that Hardaway, 32, is nearing the end of his current contract and that his salary will drop from $17.9 million in 2023–2024 to $16.2 million in 2024–2025, this is more likely than ever to happen, according to Stein.
Several media outlets are reporting that Hardaway and his father will be relieved to see a trade.
