In an exciting development for WAFL fans, Perth Football Club is poised to sign former Fremantle Dockers forward, Conrad Williams, for the 2025 season. The young player was delisted by Fremantle at the end of the 2024 season, following two years on the team’s list. Though Williams never debuted in the AFL, he has gained valuable experience with WAFL affiliate Peel Thunder, playing both league and reserves matches.

Williams, who joined Fremantle through the Next Generation Academy, was one of several young talents released by the Dockers as they reshape their roster. The 19-year-old originally came from Claremont as a rookie and played six senior games for Peel Thunder, along with 21 additional matches in the reserves. In his sole senior game this past season, he recorded nine disposals and two tackles against East Fremantle in Round 1. Despite limited game time, Williams has shown promise and is now set to bring his skills to Perth.

While the Demons have yet to formally announce the signing, Williams’ profile has appeared on the club’s official website, hinting that an official statement could be forthcoming. Should the move go ahead, Williams will join a few other former AFL players, including ex-Geelong players Sam Simpson, Charlie Constable, and Blake Schlensog, who have recently signed on with the Demons. Their collective experience could bring fresh energy to Perth’s lineup for the new season.

Perth is heading into a transformative period under newly appointed senior coach Mark Stone. Stone, taking the reins in 2025, replaces former coach Peter German, who stepped down after two seasons. With Stone’s guidance and an infusion of ex-AFL talent, the club is likely hoping to climb the WAFL ladder and improve on its 2024 standing, where it secured just four wins and finished ninth.

For Williams, this opportunity with Perth offers a new chapter in his football journey, as he works to make his mark in the WAFL. His move signals a hopeful shift for the Demons, as they seek to build a competitive squad and a more successful season ahead.
