Journalist Pipe Sierra has reported ‘several teams’ have approached Tottenham for Davinson Sanchez, and Monaco ‘will make an official offer’ as dialogue is ‘advanced’ between the sides.
Spurs’ defence started the season looking different to how it had for a lot of the last campaign. For a start, Ange Postecoglou opted for a four at the back in his first game – as he had in pre-season – in a change from Antonio Conte’s regular five at the back.
The new boss handed debuts to two defenders in the Premier League opener against Brentford, when Micky van de Ven and Destiny Ugodie started
More new defenders could be on the way in, and some might still leave before the summer is up. Eric Dier and Sanchez have both been subject to reports of interest from elsewhere.
Journalist Sierra states ‘several teams’ have approached Tottenham to ‘find out the conditions’ of the latter. It was recently reported that they were willing to let him go in order to sign Victor Nelsson, so may have no problem in selling for the right price.
Sanchez was cast to the side, playing just 18 Premier League games last season, but of course the manager has changed since then, so it’s tough to know just yet how Postecoglou really feels about him.
Spurs might well have communicated a willingness to sell to some sides, as it’s stated Monaco will ‘make an official offer in the next few hours’.
Sierra adds that the two sides ‘are already in advanced dialogues’. With that being said, they could already be closing on an agreement which would see Sanchez leave Tottenham.
It’s previously been reported that Spartak Moscow are interested in signing the centre-back. However, it’s believed Monaco will not face competition from them, as a move to the club for Sanchez ‘fell through due to the sociopolitical issue with Russia’.
Sierra did previously mention that there were several teams that had spoken to Tottenham regarding moving for him, though.
As such, while that particular avenue will bear no fruit, that’s not to say no sides will challenge them for as they attempt to get the deal done.
Monaco seem to be the most serious at the moment, though, as they’re preparing an offer, and it’s not suggested any other side has reached that stage yet.
