Serie A club president suggests he would sign Spurs midfielder if he

It seems one place Giovani Lo Celso won’t be heading this summer is Lazio, after the Italian side’s president, Claudio Lotito, revealed he won’t be making a move for the Tottenham man.

Lo Celso joined Spurs from Spanish outfit Real Betis back in 2019, but things have not quite worked out for the midfielder during his time in North London.

The Argentina international has actually spent very little time in England over the last couple of seasons, having just completed a two-year loan spell with La Liga side Villarreal.

After impressing over in Spain, both Barcelona and Real Betis are reportedly keen to sign Lo Celso this summer (Sport).

Giovani Lo Celso passes the ball

At present, Lo Celso is carrying out pre-season preparations with Tottenham and is doing a fine job, too. Two goals in two games for the Lilywhites will no doubt have given Ange Postecoglou food for thought when it comes to deciding on Lo Celso’s future.

Betis appear to be the club most intent on securing Lo Celso’s signature during the current transfer window, but it has been suggested the €25m (£21.4m) valuation by Spurs puts the player out of reach for the Spanish side (AS).

The latest from Spain, courtesy of Diario de Sevilla, suggested Betis have already ‘made contact’ with the player about a return to his former club.

Lazio do not have the resources to move for Lo Celso

One club who are seemingly not about to make contact with Lo Celso is Lazio, however, as their president has all but ruled out a transfer to the Serie A side.

Lotito told Football Italia: “There are choices that must be made. And I must accept others’ decisions too. I am not just chasing [big] names, otherwise, I’d get Lo Celso and [Juventus’] Leandro Paredes.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There appear to be a few clubs interested in signing Lo Celso this summer. If Spurs even want to sell him, that is. If he carries on performing how he has in the last two games, Ange Postecoglou will likely want to keep hold of him.
