Even before suffering an ankle injury that forced him out of the game on Sunday, he carried the ball eight times for 25 yards and caught three catches for 13 yards.

It seems that Akers’ season may be finished even though he has recently begun to play a more significant role in the Vikings’ backfield.

The injury occurred after he caught a pass from quarterback Joshua Dobbs behind the line of scrimmage and tried to plant his left leg into the ground.

After the game, coach O’Connell officially announced that the team feared Akers had suffered a torn Achilles, and Minnesota will confirm after the diagnosis on Monday.

This is not the first time, he missed the entire 2021 season after tearing his right Achilles during Training Camp and this injury is to the other Achilles, as per report.

The Vikings will rely on Alexander Mattison, who is only averaging 3.6 yards per run this season after having 93 yards and a touchdown on 18 touches against the Falcons.

Highlights of Akers’ career stats include 1,483 yards and 12 touchdowns gained by rushing. With 29 receptions, he has 261 yards and one touchdown to his belt.
