The Miami Hurricanes face their toughest test of the season this Saturday afternoon. How healthy is the team heading into their rivalry clash with Florida State?
Head Coach Mario Cristobal offered some updates on Monday.
Both starting cornerbacks, Jaden Davis and Daryl Porter Jr, picked up injuries during the game against NC State.
Cristobal said Davis “is doing fine. He’s perfect.” On Porter: “Daryl was a little bit off on Saturday, but we feel very optimistic about him. He looked pretty good today.”
Freshman receiver Nathaniel “Ray Ray” Joseph has been banged up, but Cristobal says he looked good on Monday and they expect him to be “full go” this weekend.
Mario expects running back Ajay Allen to return to the lineup this week after missing the NC State game. On tight end Elijah Arroyo, he said, “we feel optimistic he will be a full go as well.”
In hearing Cristobal’s comments live, it felt like Porter is the one he is most iffy about. The Hurricanes could really use their top cover corner this week against Florida State’s dynamic passing game.
On the FSU side, we will be monitoring top receivers Keon Coleman and Johnnie Wilson throughout the week. Wilson has missed the past two games while Coleman was held out against Pitt last weekend. Miami could really catch a break if one or both of them sits out.
