The San Antonio Spurs could not find the basket from distance against the Miami Heat. The Spurs shot only 31.3 percent from three and struggled to score from pretty much everywhere else, falling 116-104.

With five minutes left in the fourth quarter, down ten, the Spurs sent Victor Wembanyama back into the game, but by then the damage had been done and the contest was already decided.

Jimmy Butler notched his 16th career triple-double, and the Spurs’ scoring attack was led by Tre Jones and Devin Vassell, who both scored 19 points.

Wembanyama added an effective 18 points, 13 rebounds, and a block. He shot 3 of 5 from deep, easily the best shooting night by anyone in the Silver and Black.

Miami rookie Jamie Jaquez Jr. added 10 points and three rebounds. While it was not the elite play that Spurs’ fans expect from their rookie, Jaquez is among one of the best rookies in the league and has earned the “steal of the draft” title, having been selected 18th overall from UCLA.

The Spurs have been swept by Miami in the season series and have not beaten the Heat since 2022. The Heat are looking to make the playoffs after a slow start. Miami is currently seventh in the East.

With the Rodeo Road Trip off to a slow start, the Spurs have a grueling schedule ahead of them, playing nine road games in 20 days, which is remarkable considering that All-Star Weekend is right in the middle of the trip. The Spurs will hope to snap their five-game losing streak tomorrow against the Orlando Magic.
