Update on Oklahoma football player who collapsed
A report indicates that it was Oklahoma football player Gentry Williams who collapsed at practice, but has since been sent home from the hospital
An Oklahoma football player was taken to the hospital after collapsing at a workout, the school’s athletic department announced on Thursday.
Now, it appears that player has been released from the hospital and has returned home with his family.
A spokesperson from Norman Regional Hospital told KOCO that Sooners defensive back Gentry Williams was the player treated in the incident.
“At the end of this morning’s OU football team workout, a player experienced an exertional collapse and was immediately attended to by the team’s medical staff and transported to a local hospital for further care,” Oklahoma said in a statement.
“He has since been released and is heading home, where he will spend spring break with his family.
“He will undergo follow-up exams with team physicians before resuming athletic activities.
“We commend our medical staff that provided immediate and thorough care and are appreciative of all those who have expressed concern for him.”
KOCO also reported that Williams was able to return to the Sooners football facility and was with coaches and teammates.
