The Detroit Lions announced a number of roster moves Tuesday, ahead of their Week 14 matchup with the Chicago Bears. Among them was the decision to place defensive tackle Alim McNeill on injured reserve.

McNeill suffered an injury against New Orleans, and attempted to play through it. However, he would later leave the game for a second time. In a corresponding move, the Lions signed cornerback Kindle Vildor to the active roster from the practice squad.

McNeill had been having the best season of his career, with five sacks and six tackles for loss through 12 games.

Additionally, the Lions released linebacker Raymond Johnson from the practice squad, and signed two players — defensive lineman Tyson Alualu and offensive lineman Matt Farniok — to the practice squad.

Alualu is a 13-year NFL veteran who last played in the NFL in 2022 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Farniok, meanwhile, was a seventh-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2021, and spent two seasons with the organization before being waived in 2023.

The Lions are also dealing with an injury to Frank Ragnow at the center position. So, signing Farniok to the practice squad offers some insurance at the position.

Dan Campbell said the team received good news regarding Ragnow’s status on Monday.
