Stuart Dallas, a midfielder for Leeds United, responded with two words on social media to a rumor that he would have to retire due to injury.
The awful injury he suffered against Manchester City in April 2022, according to a now-deleted post by a fan-run account on X, the website that replaced Twitter, would compel the Northern Ireland player to retire. Dallas merely replied, “Fake news.”
Dallas, 32, suffered a femur fracture as a result of an attempted challenge on Jack Grealish. Dallas has not played for the Whites since the injury, missing the all of last season and the entire Daniel Farke era. The injury needed a number of surgeries.
Prior to the break, Farke stated that given Dallas’ protracted absence, Leeds was being cautious.
The German stated that Stuart was on a long-term rehab program before the match against Sheffield Wednesday.
He is still a long way from participating in team training, so we will continue to be quite cautious with him. Again, we are not exerting any pressure.
Dallas was a key component of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds team that won promotion, and he excelled once more in the team’s first season back in the Premier League. Since joining Leeds from Brentford in 2015, the 56-cap Northern Ireland player has featured in 267 games and scored 28 goals for the Whites. He signed a new deal in 2021 that is valid until the 2024 summer.
