NPFL: A devastating automobile accident involving Doma Utd players left several critically injured, some of them in critical condition, hospitalized.
According to Soccernet.ng, players and executives from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) team Doma United FC were engaged in a tragic automobile accident yesterday morning.
The crew was returning from Imo State to its Gombe camp when the tragedy happened on the Makurdi-Lafia Expressway. On Sunday, Doma United met Heartland FC in Owerri, and they lost 3-1.
The team’s bus reportedly lost control and flipped multiple times.
Thankfully, no one was killed, but a few athletes were hospitalized for treatment after suffering injuries of differing degrees. One of the few privately held teams in the NPFL, Doma United, is having difficulty hanging on to its league standing for the up coming year.
The squad has 43 points from 35 games, which puts them in 18th place in the standings.
The Savannah Tigers are a team that was established in 1994 and played in lower levels for a number of years until being promoted to the Premier League in 2022. The squad placed fifth in Group B during their first season in the top division, just missing out on a spot in the Super Six.
