SAD NEWS : after being bitten by a dog she withdraws from the London tournament

Nelly Korda claims she will not be able to defend her title at the Ladies European Tour event outside of London next week because she was attacked by a dog in Seattle. The event is sponsored by Aramco.

In a brief Instagram post on Friday, Korda stated, “I was bitten by a dog and need time to receive treatment and fully recover.”

It was on Saturday, she said, the day after the top-ranked player in women’s golf at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Sahalee failed to make the cut.

Korda did not provide any other information, such as the location of the bite or the severity of the wound.

Korda missed the cut in three successive tournaments for the first time in her career. Earlier this year, she tied an LPGA record with five straight victories. An 80 in the U.S. Women’s Open and an 81 in the Women’s PGA were two of those missed cuts.

Aramco Team Series-London was won by Korda the previous year. Prior to traveling to France for the fourth of five LPGA majors this year—the Amundi Evian Championship—she had intended to defend her title at Centurion Golf Club.
