Key Celtics Player Reportedly Angry After Failed Clippers Trade
The Boston Celtics were close to trading 6th Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon to the LA Clippers earlier this offseason, but the deal fell through. Reports have suggested the Clippers had concerns over Brogdon’s
health, but the team has not spoken on the failed trade. In a recent report from The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn, it was revealed that Brogdon is angry with the Celtics over this failed trade, and hasn’t had productive dialogue with the team since.
“Malcolm’s the one I’m concerned about too, because we’ve heard nothing and he’s angry with the team,” Washburn said. “I don’t think communication between the two sides has been fruitful.” During a podcast appearance in late-July, Celtics president Brad Stevens said, “Malcolm is really important. That was tough. He certainly doesn’t deserve that, and I feel for him. We’ve talked, obviously, since then. There are a lot of narratives out there because of that, that certainly are inaccurate.” Recognizing how tough of a situation this was for Brogdon, Stevens said the two sides have talked, but didn’t go into detail about those
conversations. Now, according to Washburn, it seems those conversations have not been very fruitful. This will be a situation to follow, because Brogdon is a key player that was very integral to Boston’s success last season on and off the court.
