The Sydney Swans players and staff have embarked on a remarkable four-day study tour in Qatar, immersing themselves in the country’s rich culture and renowned hospitality. This unique trip has allowed them to explore both historical landmarks and modern attractions, enhancing their understanding of the region.
During the initial days of the tour, the team engaged in a variety of activities, including visits to significant cultural sites and professional development sessions at esteemed institutions like Aspetar and Aspire Academy. The final two days shifted focus to some of Doha’s most popular tourist spots. Players such as Robbie Fox, Hayden McLean, and Justin McInerney, alongside CEO Tom Harley and other staff members, enjoyed their time at Doha’s Beach Club, followed by an exciting Discover Desert tour. This adventure included a memorable dinner under the stars amidst the stunning sand dunes of Khor-Al-Adaid, concluding with a visit to the Lusail International Circuit in anticipation of the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix.

Fox expressed his admiration, stating, “You think it’s going to be nice, but every building is unique and beautifully crafted. It’s been an incredible experience.” He highlighted the thrill of driving through the sand dunes, stating that witnessing the sunset and enjoying dinner in such a picturesque setting was unforgettable. The tour of the race track further impressed him, as he appreciated the extensive preparations for major events in the area.
McLean echoed these sentiments, encouraging others to visit Qatar, remarking on how even four days felt insufficient to fully explore all that Doha has to offer. Raper, who had previously visited a decade ago, noted the substantial development and modernization since his last trip, while also praising how Qatar has preserved its cultural heritage amidst rapid change. “The Souq Waqif is a highlight for me; it embodies the historical essence of the region, filled with unique sights and scents that are absent in Australia,” he commented.
Both Harley and Cameron emphasized the value of cultural exchange and new experiences. Harley remarked on the misconception that the Middle East
