It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of motorcycle racing legend Kevin Schwantz. Just moments ago, Schwantz tragically succumbed to injuries sustained during a recent incident, leaving the motorsports world in shock and mourning. He was 59 years old.

Schwantz, a beloved figure in the world of MotoGP and road racing, was known for his aggressive yet precise riding style and his passion for the sport. He rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s as a dominant force in the 500cc World Championship, where his fierce rivalries and on-track drama captivated fans around the globe. Schwantz’s crowning achievement came in 1993, when he won the 500cc World Championship, defeating a star-studded field that included names like Wayne Rainey and Mick Doohan. His ability to push the limits of both man and machine earned him a reputation as one of the sport’s greatest competitors.

Outside of his racing success, Schwantz was beloved for his down-to-earth personality and his commitment to helping develop the next generation of riders. He was instrumental in the creation of the Kevin Schwantz Suzuki School, where he worked closely with young riders to impart his knowledge and love of the sport.
