The Club announces the untimely and tragic passing of our friend, colleague, and Hatters supporter Mark Ledsom with the utmost sadness.

With over 20 years of experience in media, journalism, and communications, Mark is a professionally educated broadcaster and journalist who has worked for some of the major media companies, such as Thomson Reuters, Sky Sports, and the BBC.

He began his career in corporate communications in 2008 when he worked for FIFA, the organization that oversees world football, where he introduced and edited the organization’s new monthly magazine in four languages. In 2014, he came back to the UK to oversee communications for the recently established government-funded technology and innovation center, Transport Systems Catapult.

His impact was evident during the Hatters’ ascent from non-league to the Premier League, providing the Club with ongoing PR counsel and direction on a consulting basis prior to his decision to accept his ideal position as a member of Luton Town’s media team this summer.

Mark’s dedication to his work, the Club, and the town made a lasting impression on coworkers who soon warmed to him. He was proud to make his Luton Town press box debut in the club’s first Premier League match at Brighton. Tragically, less than a month after learning he had cancer and one day after he should have been celebrating his 50th birthday, Mark lost his brief but courageous battle with the disease. He leaves behind his wife, Louise, and three children, Max, Kurt, and Anya. The love and prayers of the entire Hatters community extend to his family and his sister Jane.

Rest in peace, Mark.
