Report: Tottenham set to make offer for French sensation in ‘next few hours’
GFFN have claimed that a bid from Tottenham Hotspur is now imminent for Montpellier forward Elye Wahi.
Wahi has established a reputation as one of the best young talents in Ligue 1 over the last couple of years, with the forward finishing the 2022-23 campaign with 19 goals and six assists to his name in 33 league matches (Transfermarkt).
GFFN explain that Chelsea have already submitted an offer for the 20-year-old this week but the bid was turned down as it fell short of Montpellier’s valuation.
Spurs expected to bid for Elye Wahi soon
The report states that after seeing their London rivals fail with a bid, Tottenham are set to submit an offer of their own for Wahi ‘in the next few hours’.
The publication claims that the Lilywhites have identified the Frenchman as a potential replacement for Harry Kane amidst the growing speculation over the England captain’s future.
The outlet adds that Wahi is also expected to attract interest from other clubs apart from the two aforementioned Premier League sides, and it is asserted that the forward’s departure from Stade de la Mosson now ‘appears inevitable’.

If Postecoglou is happy for Richarlison to lead the line next season, it would make sense for Spurs to bring in a talented young forward like Wahi and spend most of the Kane money (if he leaves) on addressing other key areas like centre-back and central midfield.
