Report: Tottenham outcast’s preference is Inter Milan loan despite PL club interest
Tottenham Hotspur’s Japhet Tanganga on Luton Town and Inter Milan’s radars
Japhet Tanganga of Tottenham Hotspur is a wanted man this summer. It has become increasingly clear that his future doesn’t belong at Spurs if he wants more playing time.
After a streak of games under Jose Mourinho, where he had just broken into the first team, the Englishman has largely played as a backup centre-back. And that is his role currently as well.
Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez are ahead of him in the pecking order. Tanganga, 24, is at an age where he needs regular playing time.
He had just 146 minutes of Premier League football last season despite being named in the squad 30 times. Those are appalling numbers for a player his age.
Tanganga to Inter?
He still has two years left on his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, so he is still a player that we have to make a decision on. Either we keep him here and let him warm the bench for two seasons.
Or, we can let him leave on loan and let another club handle his wages. The second option seems way more reasonable, which is why Spurs should be happy to know Luton Town and Inter Milan are interested in him.
This is according to the Express, who claim that the two teams want him on loan for the 2023-24 season. The newly-promoted Luton Town can use his Premier League expertise, be it minimal, to help them stay up.
Inter, meanwhile, would want to add some depth at the back after Milan Skriniar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). To barely anyone’s surprise, Tanganga’s preference is said to be Inter, who are last year’s UEFA Champions League finalists and will play in that competition again.
