20-year-old now very close to leaving Newcastle on loan, deal down to ‘final details

Following the Yankubah Minteh deal, Newcastle and Feyenoord struck up an agreement that would allow the Dutch side to loan youth players from the Magpies.

It now looks as though Feyenoord are taking full advantage of the agreement and are set to take 20-year-old midfielder Lucas De Bolle for a season.

De Bolle spent last season on loan at Hamilton Academicals

A report from 1908, a Dutch football website has claimed that Newcastle and Feyenoord are negotiating the ‘final details’ of the move.

De Bolle spent last season on loan at Scottish Championship side Hamilton Academicals where he made 26 appearances scoring one and assisting once. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to help Hamilton beat the drop into League One.

For Newcastle U21s this season he played 72 minutes in the Premier League 2 opener against Southampton U21s but was not in the squad for their subsequent two games.

De Bolle will link up with new Newcastle signing Yankubah Minteh

The young Scot, born to Belgian parents, has been with Newcastle since 2015 but has yet to make a senior competitive appearance for the club. He did, however, make the bench in four games at the end of 2021/22 and was involved in the pre-season friendly against Gateshead this summer.

If the move goes through then De Bolle could be the first Newcastle player to play alongside summer signing Yankubah Minteh who immediately made loan move to the Netherlands.

Minteh is already impressing at Feyenoord so hopefully Lucas De Bolle can follow in his footsteps and come back to Newcastle with more confidence and having learned more about the game with a view to breaking into Eddie Howe‘s plans.
