Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness believes Man Utd’s legal battle against UEFA’s decision to reject their transfer for Nice center-back Jean-Clair Todibo is certain to fail.
Over the past 12 months, Todibo has been connected to a move to the Red Devils, with rumors growing since Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who also owns Nice in France, acquired 27.7% of Manchester United from the Glazer family.
Even though it has been widely reported that Manchester United wants to sign Todibo this summer in order to add at least one new center back, the transaction has been uncertain because Nice and the Premier League team are owned by the same people.
Additionally, Man Utd has hired a lawyer to try to push through a move for Todibo this summer, according to a report published last week by Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The Swiss attorney Gianpaolo Monteneri has been retained by the English firm that specializes in the chemicals industry to argue before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in support of the entrance of the defender #OGCNice at #MUFC. Furthermore, Wyness, the former CEO of Everton, maintains that he was caught aback by Man Utd’s seeming quick legal action.
“It’s odd to see them go legal against Uefa so quickly on this,” Wyness said to Football Insider.
“I don’t anticipate them having much success. Ratcliffe’s frustration with the dual ownership situation is evident.
“He appears to be battling numerous problems on numerous fronts, so I’m shocked he’s added to that by choosing a fight with Uefa.
“I would have thought there would be more important issues to challenge Uefa on, but unless there is some extraordinary situation that defies the regulations, he won’t likely succeed here.
