Rangers recently had their bid to acquire Almeria’s center-back, Kaiky, turned down. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Scottish club proposed a loan-to-buy arrangement for the 20-year-old Brazilian. Their offer included a £630,000 loan fee, a subsequent permanent fee of £5.9 million, and a 30 percent sell-on clause. However, Almeria, who were relegated from La Liga last season, declined the proposal.

Romano did not clarify whether the £5.9 million was intended as an option or an obligation. If it were an option, Almeria might have been hesitant, doubting they would receive the full amount. The rejection likely stems from concerns over Rangers’ ability to meet the financial terms, possibly dependent on future successes in the Scottish Premiership and Champions League.

Rangers’ financial constraints have been well-documented this summer, with their transfer activities notably slowing down recently. Philippe Clement, the Rangers manager, faces the challenge of offloading players before he can make new signings, adding to the complexity of the situation.

The rejection of the bid reflects Almeria’s skepticism about the likelihood of receiving the full fee. The deal’s success could hinge on Rangers’ performance and whether they secure a place in the Champions League group stage.
