Rangers are reportedly preparing to part ways with left-back Ridvan Yilmaz before the transfer window closes, as they seek to secure a permanent transfer fee for the defender. According to Turkish outlet Fanatik (February 1, 2025), the club is actively looking for a buyer, hoping to finalize a deal within the next 48 hours.
While Turkish club Besiktas has shown interest in bringing Yilmaz back, their preference is for a loan deal rather than a full transfer. However, Rangers have placed a £4.1 million valuation on the player (Sabah), making it clear they are aiming for a permanent move. Manager Philippe Clement recently acknowledged that Yilmaz has been dealing with a minor injury, but this has not changed the club’s stance on moving him on.
Despite making 20 appearances across all competitions this season, Yilmaz has struggled to cement himself as a regular starter under Clement. Jefte has emerged as the preferred choice at left-back, and with growing interest in him from clubs like Chelsea (The Scottish Sun), Yilmaz has often been deployed in less familiar roles, including as a left-winger or right-back.
A return to his former club in Turkey could be an appealing option for Yilmaz, although he has never publicly expressed a desire to leave. Instead, he has remained focused on fighting for his place at Ibrox. However, with Rangers keen to secure funds and restructure their squad, his departure seems increasingly likely unless circumstances change in the final hours of the transfer window.
Should Rangers struggle to find a replacement in time, Yilmaz may end up staying at Ibrox, at least for the remainder of the season. In that case, he would continue providing depth in defensive positions while competing for more regular minutes. Either way, his future remains uncertain as the clock ticks down on a potential move.
