Rafael Nadal has issued an update on his tennis retirement following their upset doubles defeat at the Paris Olympics.

The Spanish dream team lost to Team USA’s Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek in the quarterfinals, missing out on a medal match. Nadal, 38, is nearing the conclusion of his remarkable career, but he has lately delayed his retirement intentions after signing up for the US Open.

The King of Clay lost his temper with a reporter earlier in the Games when asked about his official retirement, despite previously discussing those plans.

Nadal is well-known for his contributions to the French Open, and until he did a bit of a U-turn in 2024, it was believed to be his final Grand Slam appearance. In response to the question of whether Rafael Nadal will make one final trip to the French Open in 2025, the Spaniard has provided an update on his upcoming performances.

‘If that’s the case, it will be unforgettable emotions. The public gave me love. The fans supported me in every second of my matches.’

Rafael Nadal has also praised Carlos Alcaraz, his partner, once more. Alcaraz won Roland-Garros and Wimbledon this year, astonishingly securing a Channel Slam.

Nadal continued, “We have a very good relationship.” We are amiable and enjoy sharing things together in Spain, so I have no doubt that Carlos and I will continue to have a great relationship.

‘Just simply, we are in a completely different lifetime momentum. That’s the truth… If my age will be 10 years less, we’re going to create a beautiful relationship on tour and we’re going to share a lot of beautiful moments together but that’s not going to happen.

‘But of course I will be supporting him from home and wishing him all the very best every single time and even if I keep playing or not, I love tennis… I will be around less than before.’
