KSWO, Lawton, Oklahoma The suspected suicide death at the Lawton Golf Course on Saturday is being looked into, according to the Lawton Police Department.
David Beckner was recognized as the person discovered deceased at the golf course.
In 2022, Beckner faced charges of first-degree manslaughter in connection with the passing of Jeffrey McClung.
In court filings, Beckner reported to detectives that he heard someone trying to get into his house and that when he walked outside, he spotted McClung beneath the window of a different house. The individual was then apparently confronted by Beckner, but McClung fled.
According to court filings, witnesses at the incident claimed to have seen Beckner pursue McClung before the two men got into a brawl.
McClung had a significant cut to his throat and torso when he was discovered dead in the road.
A witness said during a preliminary hearing in April 2023 that Beckner informed them McClung got into a fight with his father after breaking into his house.
The court case against Beckner was postponed until October or November of this year, so he had not been put on trial.
