Twelve striking murals have been unveiled to draw attention to the heartbreaking fact that in the UK, 12 young people under the age of 35 pass away from sudden cardiac death each week.
The moving words “Til I Died” are featured in a number of the pieces of art.
‘He’s with his dad now
One of the murals honors 15-year-old Myles Christie, a football player from a young age, and is situated in Digbeth, Birmingham.
I was taken aback. Hayley explains, “I didn’t want to be a widow or a single parent.
“Now that I think about it, Myles told me he was afraid his father would lead him to die early. He was receiving counseling for bereavement.
“It seems like he’s with his father right now, and he missed him.”
Myles was in year 10 at school, preparing for his GCSEs, and had dreams of becoming a PE teacher. He was gifted in football, basketball, and athletics. In May 2023, Hayley went to wake him and saw him laying face down on the floor next to his bed.
Myles couldn’t be rescued, even with CPR from Hayley’s fiancé Nathan and the greatest efforts of paramedics and a physician at Birmingham Children’s Hospital where he was blue lit.
