Micah Richards says Newcastle have an ‘impeccable’ talent in their ranks
Newcastle United impressed on their return to the Champions League after a 20-year absence.
The Magpies headed to AC Milan on Tuesday night and left with what could turn out to be a crucial point in a 0-0 draw
Newcastle were second-best for much of the encounter, but they held on for a share of the spoils.
Nick Pope, who was a giant between the sticks, was greatly appreciated by the Magpies.
In the game, Pope stopped eight shots, including several close-range attempts from players like Olivier Giroud.
Both during and after the game, the £10 million man received a ton of acclaim, with Micah Richards chanting his praises.
He stated, “Pope’s saves,” to CBS Sports on Paramount+ (19/09/23, 10:10pm).
Pope stopped 8 important efforts against AC Milan out of 25 attempts.
“We have been praising him in England for how adept he is at blocking shots, and he proved himself.
He is simply enormous, exudes presence, commands his space, and played exceptionally well. He needed to. distant in Milan. He was aware of the difficulty.
We are aware of his shortcomings on the ball. But he always chooses the best course of action, and I felt he was flawless.
In our opinion
Newcastle has assembled a superb team, and Pope once again displayed his class.
The Magpies could have taken a beating, but Pope ensured that they exited the San Siro with a point.
Pope: Deserving of a place in the England team? Definitely. However, before the international break, let’s wait and see what their present manager does.
