Important EFL dates as Reading FC joins Portsmouth and Oxford United in League One for the 2023–24 season
Following its relegation from the Championship this season together with Blackpool and Wigan Athletic, Reading FC will compete in the third tier of English football in the upcoming campaign.
The English Football League has confirmed the key dates for the 2023/24 season, with the League One campaign set to start on Saturday, August 5.
Reading are set to play in the third tier of English football next season following relegation from the Championship, with the Royals finishing third from bottom and going down alongside Blackpool and Wigan Athletic.

The EFL fixtures for the new season are set to be announced on Thursday, June 22, with the EFL confirming that the opening round of fixtures in the Championship, League One and League Two will take place across the opening weekend of August 4-6, with the season set to start with a likely live game on Friday, August 4.
The first round of the Carabao Cup will take place in the week commencing August 7, with Reading set to enter the competition in round one.
