Newcastle United picked up a point against the Hammers but Eddie Howe had some bones to pick with his team
Eddie Howe acknowledged that his squad “made mistakes” in the 2-2 draw at West Ham but said that nobody at the London Stadium was to blame.
Thanks to two goals from Alexander Isak, the Magpies had to come back from being down and bring themselves within striking distance of victory. Mohammed Kudus’ goal in the 89th minute forced United to settle for a point, though.
After the match against David Moyes’ team, Howe was candid in his evaluation and stated that there was still much to improve upon. The Newcastle manager remarked, “I think there’s frustration.I get annoyed whenever you give up ambitions because I’m trying to be flawless.
“I’m not going to criticise anybody, it’s always a team thing, but the first goal was surprising. I need to review that again to see where we didn’t quite get it right.
“Now that I’ve viewed the second goal once again, I can see what went wrong with it more clearly. We committed mistakes in midfield that gave them the room they did, but I’d never sit here and criticize specific plays because that’s never been my style. Both of our goals are disappointing because I believe we could have prevented them.
