Rangers now competing with Liverpool for ‘very mature’ teenage striker

Michael Beale’s Rangers are reportedly trying to sign Ryan One ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United among other clubs.

According to TEAMtalk, Rangers are interested in signing Ryan One from Hamilton Academical in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Liverpool and Newcastle United are also keen on the 17-year-old striker.

Burnley, who will play in the Premier League in England this season after winning promotion from the Championship, are interested in One, and so are Brighton and Hove Albion.

TEAMtalk has reported that both Liverpool and Newcastle have made enquiries about One’s availability, while Rangers are monitoring the youngster’s situation.

Rangers target Ryan One is highly rated

Ryan One is one of the best young strikers in Scotland, and we are not surprised that Rangers, Liverpool and Newcastle United are among the clubs keen on the Hamilton Academical player.

One is only 17 and has huge potential.

While we do not think that the Scottish youngster is ready to lead the line for Rangers, Liverpool or Newcastle, he could do so in the not-too-distant future.

It is very likely that Rangers, Liverpool or Newcastle would include One in their youth-team squad initially.

With Premier League heavyweights such as Liverpool and Newcastle keen on One, it would be a massive statement from Rangers if they are able to sign him.

Rangers are a massive club and have a very good and productive youth academy.

A move to the Gers could be very appealing to One.

Hamilton manager John Rankin rates One highly and plans to use him regularly in his first-team squad this season.

Rankin told The Daily Record this week: “It is hard for Ryan because it has been well documented that teams are looking at him and things are going on.

“But what I will say is, he has been very mature about it. He has been really focused and he hasn’t wavered at all – so much so that he’s played a part in every game for us so far in the cups and pre-season.

“He started on Saturday [against Cove Rangers] and it will be a case of continuing to drip feed him into games because he is very much part of our plans.

“Whether things develop on that, I don’t know but there has been nothing since the club’s statement a few weeks ago.”

One made two starts and 15 substitute appearances in the Scottish Championship last season.
