NEWS UPDATE: Liverpool teenager reveals’sacrifices’ following horrific injury

Trent Kone-Doherty has impressed for Liverpool since coming from Derry City.

Trent Kone-Doherty, a talented Liverpool kid, has opened up about the sacrifices he’s made to get to Liverpool, stating it’s his dream to one day become a full-fledged part of the Reds’ first squad.

The 17-year-old forward joined Liverpool from League of Ireland club Derry City last summer and had a successful debut season in the Premier League North and later the UEFA Youth League.

However, the Republic of Ireland youth international’s debut season was cut short due to an ankle injury received during a defeat at Manchester City in February, which forced him to miss the season’s final months.

Despite the setback, Kone-Doherty’s strong record with the under-18s earned him a summer promotion to train with Liverpool’s senior squad.

Kone-Doherty, who comes from the county of Derry in Northern Ireland, told Liverpool.com that his trip to Anfield was fraught with difficulties because he was forced to leave his birthplace just after his 17th birthday.

“It was something I knew was going to happen,” Kone-Doherty said of his move to Liverpool in 2022. “My father once told me, ‘If you want to be a footballer, you have to make sacrifices.'” I knew it was a worthwhile sacrifice, and I’m glad I made it.

“I’ve had a great time, and I think it’s been a good first year.” Leaving my friends and family was definitely difficult at first. But I think I’m getting used to it now, and I like the difference. Obviously
