Garnett’s famous “anything is possible” comment, delivered following the 2008 NBA Finals, proved to be the ideal method for Rodgers to not rule out a comeback this season.
“We’ll see what happens,” said Rodgers on the “Pat McAfee Show.” “It’s a procedure. Certain benchmarks must be met. I won’t make any statements because I don’t think it’s fair to myself. “As Kevin Garnett once said, ‘Anything is possible.'”
It didn’t take long for Garnett to realize that Rodgers, who is projected to miss the remainder of the season, had mentioned him when discussing his injuries.
And the 2008 NBA champion appeared to have respect for Rodgers, as well as a chuckle, by responding to the quarterback’s statement with a three-emoji post on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.
Rodgers’ return to the field this season will undoubtedly be a difficult feat. He had successful surgery on Wednesday and is expected to require months of rehabilitation to recover from the catastrophic injuries.
But perhaps Garnett’s comments will ring true, and Rodgers, at 40 years old, will beat the odds and play if the Jets make a postseason run.
