Newcastle United wanted an elite midfielder.

They signed Sandro Tonali — for a price which now seems a bargain, set against Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice.

They signed Harvey Barnes, who, like Tonali, scored on his debut appearance against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Football Insider claims Newcastle United have made contact with Arsenal over a potential loan move for Kieran Tierney. The Gunners left-back was repeatedly linked with a move to St. James’ Park towards the end of last season, but as of yet, remains an Arsenal player.

Magpies plotting ‘£30million approach’

Alan Nixon claims Newcastle United are plotting a £30million move for Chelsea starlet Lewis Hall. Eddie Howe is reportedly a huge fan of Hall and is hoping to lure him away from Stamford Bridge.

The 18-year-old has come through Chelsea’s academy and looked to sign a new contract before heading out on loan, however, the Magpies interest is said to have moved the goalposts.

Chelsea have no plans to lose Hall, but their spending this summer means they need to balance the books. The Toon have also been credited with a loan move for Marc Cucurella – with an option to buy.

The report claims the Toon could buy one of the players and loan in the other given they’d be unable to have two loans from the same club.
