Bucks Coach Responds to Giannis’ Comments on His Future

Adrian Griffin, the incoming coach of the Bucks, has replied to recent remarks made by Giannis Antetokounmpou regarding his future with the team.

Griffin has not even presided over a single Bucks game, but Giannis has already made it obvious what his goals are.

He recently stated to The New York Times that he won’t sign an extension with the team if he doesn’t feel like “everybody’s going for a championship.”

Griffin has since commented on Giannis’ assertion.

Griffin told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “Well, Giannis and I are on the same page. “So far, our relationship is fantastic, and getting to know him has been a pleasure. It’s that simple: He wants to win, and I want to win. Thus, I respect him. I admire what he has accomplished in this league, and we are all in this together to succeed. I therefore have no issue with that. It’s a terrific partnership, in my opinion. Together, we will guide the team. I think it’s excellent because the rest will follow when he leads.

When the head coach was questioned if the remarks caused any internal pressure among the team, he said that he didn’t think so.

Griffin said, “Definitely not.” Here we are. We’re in harmony. We’re here to succeed. And the one topic I brought up with my team and our employees was just embracing expectations. I have an excellent roster. We want to embrace it rather than flee from it. But it only takes one day at a time. Yes, we want to go far and deep in April, May, and June. However, we must take things one step at a time and take care of the things we can control. WE want to be an excellent practice team, arrive with lots of enthusiasm and focus, and then get ready for the first game. I believe it’s a wonderful thing that we are all in agreement. The anticipation is favorable. It will encourage the best qualities in us.

Both Giannis and Khris Middleton, a teammate, had knee operations in the offseason, but Griffin believes they will be fully recovered by the start of training camp.

Griffin will undoubtedly try to lead the Bucks further than that this coming season after they embarrassingly crashed out of the playoffs in the first round last year.

Griffin believed it would be a wonderful chance for them to build day by day, brick by brick. “We construct our home. One of the things I keep emphasizing to our athletes is that we are constantly constructing our home.
