New in history: As West Ham star puts £60m price tag on team mate after Spurs and Newcastle United links

West Ham striker Michail Antonio said his teammate wouldn’t go for a small fee should any club want his services.

West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has slapped a £60 million price tag on Jarrod Bowen should any clubs eye up a late move this transfer window.

Transfer drama around the London Stadium has focused on other incomings and outgoings in recent weeks, but the versatile forward has been linked with moves to Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United this summer.West Ham star Michail Antonio reveals how he broke down in tears in bed next to wife and considered quitting football | The Sun

Bowen has impressed in North London since joining the club from Hull City in 2020. The 26-year-old netted the winner in the Europa Conference League final and grabbed six goals and six assists last season – the star also netted the Hammers’ opening goal of the season against Bournemouth last weekend.

Speaking on the BBC Sounds Footballers Football Podcast, Antonio mused with Newcastle United star Callum Wilson over the price of players in today’s game after Chelsea splashed out on midfield stars Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

Antonio said: “If you’re a half-decent player, you’re going for £50 or £60 million. Jarrod Bowen, I couldn’t put a price on that. He’s English, scores goals for fun. If he’s going it’s got to be £60 million.”Jarrod Bowen Profile | PlanetSport

“He’s got the instincts and the sharpness. Hull played him at centre-forward so it’s not me trying to be a genius.”

Fellow Hammers forward Lucas Paqueta continues to be linked with a move to Manchester City, although the club’s £85 million price is believed to be deterring Pep Guardiola’s side, who reportedly bid £70 million for the star earlier this window.

Wilson said: “If I’m Paqueta though and £70 million is coming in, which is a good offer… you bought me for £52 million, you’re making £18 million on me and I’ve got the Champions wanting to sign me. He’s obviously going to want to go, no?”

A coy Antonio replied: “I’m going to leave that business to West Ham and Paqueta.”
