Kieran Trippier says he can believe what Man City star does away from the pitch
Kieran Trippier has revealed that Manchester City star Phil Foden is one of the best trainers in the England squad.
The two players are set to face off against each other tonight as the Citizens will be taking on Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium for their second Premier League match of the
new season.
Ahead of this big game, the Magpies captain has shared some behind-the-scenes insight about one of City’s star players.
Speaking in a recent video published on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel, Trippier had this to say when asked which player in the England squad is the best trainer.
He said: “For England? That’s a tough one really because everyone trains really well.
“Phil. You see him everywhere, in the corridor he’s got a ball at his feet, he’s football mad. Honestly, everywhere you go, if it’s a corridor or before games or before training, he’s
always got a ball, a tennis ball, whatever it may be, he’s always got something at his feet.”
Having made his senior debut for City back in November 2017 during a Champions League game against Feyenoord when he was 17, the Englishman has now made 220
appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side prior to tonight’s match against Newcastle.
With Foden featuring in nine England games alongside Trippier and spending numerous international tournaments together in the England squad, it’s safe to say that the Newcastle
star will know what it’s like to spend time with the 23-year-old on and off the pitch.
Now that the right-back has highlighted how eager the City midfielder is to always have a ball on the go even when he’s not in training, this showcases how much he loves football
and wants to improve his game, which should delight Pep Guardiola and lots of Blues supporters.
Looking ahead to tonight’s match, it’s safe to say that the City star will be hoping to see more of the ball than his England teammate and ends up winning all three points.
